Pound Ridge Police received the call of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sherwood Rd in Pound Ridge on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Responding Pound Ridge Officers located the vehicle on Upper Shad Road in Pound Ridge.
Police determined that the vehicle was a sub-contracted vehicle by Optimum Cable company doing local installations. Upon identifying the driver, it was determined that he was wanted in Texas as a fugitive from Justice out of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in Dallas.
Pound Ridge Police contacted Texas authorities and confirmed the identity of the individual and he was taken into custody.
Maurice Tejan, 36, of Dallas and was living in Mount Vernon for approximately two months and was working for Optimum Cable company in the Westchester region, Pound Ridge Police Chief David Ryan said.
Ryan commended the alertness of a neighbor and said this is a textbook reason why “If you see something, Say something.”
Tejan was arraigned before Pound Ridge Justice Regina Kelly and was remanded to Westchester County Jail without bail, pending extradition which is coordinated through the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and authorities in Dallas County.
